I was trying to get everything set up quickly, but the security options felt kind of basic. The docs didn’t really clear things up either, so I ended up guessing my way through parts of it, which was frustrating.

I was hoping it would be a bit more flexible when it came to scaling, but it felt limited for what I needed. I kept checking the emails and receipts to make sure I hadn’t missed a different plan or option, but there just wasn’t much room to adjust things the way I expected...

"The docs and API really dragged my day down"
I was already not in the best mood, and trying to get through the docs made it worse. They felt confusing, and the API errors kept eating up my time. By the end of it, I was just frustrated and drained.

"Billing was honestly a mess for me"
I had a frustrating time with upcloud’s billing, honestly. I thought I had cancelled the stuff I needed to cancel, but then charges still showed up, and I couldn’t really tell what was still active or why.
The account page felt kind of confusing too, like, you have to click around way too much just to figure out what you’re actually paying for. It didn’t feel very clear or user friendly to me.
Support did reply, to be fair, but it didn’t really take away the stress of the whole thing. I just wanted to shut everything down cleanly and move on, so yeah, I wouldn’t use them again.

I don’t know, my gut reaction is that this is just too pricey for what you’re getting. It’s not terrible or anything, but it didn’t feel worth the money to me.

"Slow servers and not worth the hassle"
I tried UpCloud for a small side project, the speed just wasn’t there for me. I wasn’t expecting anything crazy, but basic pages feeling sluggish?? Not a great start.
It was weird because sometimes things would load fine for a little while, then out of nowhere the server would slow down again. With barely any traffic on it, I kept wondering what was going on??
Support was polite enough, but it didn’t really solve the main problem. After a few days, I ended up moving to another provider because I don’t want to keep checking whether my server is behaving or not

"Support didn’t live up to what they promised"
I had what should’ve been a simple issue, and based on what they say about their support, I expected it to be handled quickly. In reality, it took forever just to get a response, and when they finally replied, it felt like they hadn’t even read what I wrote.
I kept having to repeat the same details over and over, which got really frustrating. Maybe the service itself works fine for some people, but the support experience was nothing like what they make it sound like. I wouldn’t use it again.

"For some reason, the network just never..."
For some reason, the network just never felt reliable on my end. I’d get random lag, dropped connections, and then the next day it might be fine for a while before acting up again. I ended up spending way too much time checking routes and waiting for things to settle down. For casual stuff it might be okay, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable using it for anything important

I really expected better uptime, but the servers kept going down. It got frustrating quickly, and I’m sure other customers would feel the same if they were relying on it regularly.

"Server locations were a bit too limited for my needs"
I gave UpCloud a try, and while it seemed fine overall, the data center options just didn’t work for me. I needed something closer to where most of my users are, and I couldn’t really find a location that made sense — which was kind of frustrating, honestly. Ended up moving to another provider with better coverage. Not a huge dramatic thing, just not the right fit for my setup

"I don’t want to be unfair..."
I don’t want to be unfair because the service itself seemed decent enough, and support was okay when I needed them. But the upcloud control panel was frustrating to use. It felt cluttered and a bit slow, and basic things like finding server settings or checking billing took longer than they should have. A few buttons weren’t very clear, and some pages loaded oddly for me. I’ve used plenty of hosting dashboards before, so I don’t think it was just a learning curve. It’s not unusable, but the dashboard definitely made simple tasks more annoying than they needed to be

"Backup options need to be more reliable"
I found the backup options weak, and the snapshots were confusing to figure out. If this is something customers are expected to trust with their data, there needs to be clearer guidance and better accountability when the process isn’t easy to understand.

"Deployment was slower than I expected"
I was excited to get the server up and running, but the deployment took way longer than I hoped. Everything did eventually get set up, so that was a relief, but the wait was frustrating.
